Solo, Pair, or Team? Finding Your Perfect Endure24 Race Style

“If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.”

At Endure24, the choice is yours. Will you push your limits Solo, share the effort as part of a Pair, or take on the challenge with a Team?

Each approach offers a completely different experience, from the mental grit of running alone to the camaraderie of a squad cheering you on through the night. But before you commit, it’s important to understand what each option involves so you can make the best choice for your race day goals.

Running Solo: The Ultimate Test of Endurance

Going Solo at Endure24 is the most demanding option, both physically and mentally. Every lap, every break, and every decision is entirely up to you. This means you have full control over your pacing, strategy, and rest periods, but it also means you bear the full weight of the challenge.

  • Pacing & Energy Management: Without teammates to break up the effort, pacing smartly is crucial. Go too fast too early, and you risk burning out.
  • Sleep & Fatigue: Some Solo runners take power naps, while others push through the full 24 hours. Knowing how your body handles extreme fatigue will help you plan a sustainable approach.
  • Nutrition & Hydration: Managing your food and drink intake over such a long period is key—your body needs effective fuel, not just whatever looks good at 2am. Electrolytes (sodium, potassium, magnesium) are also key for muscle function, especially when sweating.

Running Solo is about resilience, mental toughness, and discovering just how far you can push yourself. If you thrive on independence and personal challenge, this is the way to go.

Running As A Pair: Strategy, Synchronisation & Shared Effort

Taking on Endure24 as a Pair gives you the best of both worlds—the perfect blend of “this is tough” and “at least I’m not alone.” This also makes race strategy essential.

  • Lap Planning: Will you alternate every lap to stay fresh, or take longer shifts to allow for deeper rest? Testing different approaches in training can help you find the best system.
  • Communication & Adaptability: You’ll need to stay in sync, adjusting pacing and strategy as the race unfolds. If one runner struggles, the other may need to pick up the slack.
  • Balancing Effort & Recovery: Rest is key, but with only one other runner, downtime is limited. Efficient recovery between laps can make all the difference.

Running as a Pair is perfect if you want to challenge yourself with significant mileage while still having someone to rely on for motivation, support, and strategy.

Small Team (3-5): The Perfect Middle Ground

A Small Team offers a great balance of endurance and recovery time. You’ll get enough rest between laps to recover, but still need to run a substantial distance over the 24 hours.

  • Strategic Rotations: Will you keep laps short for a steady rhythm, or take longer shifts for deeper recovery? The right choice can have a huge impact on performance.
  • Sleep & Fatigue Management: Breaks are long enough for short naps but not always for full recovery—knowing how to manage sleep deprivation is key.
  • Accountability & Team Morale: With fewer teammates, everyone’s effort is crucial. Supporting and motivating each other will help keep energy levels high.

If you want a strong endurance challenge without going fully Solo, a Small Team is a great choice—demanding enough to test you, but still feeling almost human at the end.

Large Team (6-8): Teamwork, Tactics & Total Enjoyment

A Large Team means you’ll have more time to rest between laps, making it a great option for those looking to balance competition with a social and enjoyable experience. But there’s more to consider than just running less:

  • Efficient Transitions: More runners means more baton handovers—having a smooth system in place can save valuable time.
  • Managing Different Paces: Not everyone will be at the same fitness level. A well-organised team embraces this and plans accordingly.
  • Keeping Morale High: Longer breaks between laps can sometimes make it harder to stay engaged. A plan for keeping spirits up—whether through music, food, or team goals—helps make the experience even better.

If you want to experience the excitement of Endure24 with a flexible and social approach, a large team is the perfect way to do it.

XL Team (9-12): More Laps, More Laughs

An XL Team means more teammates, more laughs, and more time to soak up the unique atmosphere of Endure24. With extended rest breaks between laps, it’s the perfect way to balance running with an all-out social experience. Here’s what makes it special:

All About the Vibes – With up to 12 runners, you’ll have plenty of downtime to relax, cheer on teammates, and fully embrace the festival feel of Endure24. Bring camping chairs, snacks, and good tunes—you’re in for a weekend of running and revelry.

Easy-Going Relay – More teammates mean less pressure. Whether you’re aiming for a steady team effort or just here for the fun, you can run as much or as little as you like without worrying about the clock.

Squad Energy – With a bigger team comes bigger hype. Keep the excitement high by setting fun challenges, celebrating each lap with a cheer (or a snack), and making the most of the downtime together.

If you want to experience Endure24 with a festival atmosphere, a flexible approach to running, and a weekend packed with camaraderie, an XL Team is the way to go!
